Why IPPG?

Our members are here for a variety of reasons, but there is a common thread that runs among those reasons.  It’s because of the helpfulness and encouragement of other members.  We LOVE to HELP one another and do all that we can to help you LEARN and become SUCCESSFUL.

Read below for the reasons why some of our members love being part of IPPG….

As a professional photographer, I have always enjoyed learning through a variety of mediums. From national conventions spanning several days to one day seminars to Facebook groups to short tutorials on line, there is valuable information to be accessed no matter your budget or time constraint. Technical knowledge is a key to our viability, and it is easy to find a solution on the internet. And I also strive to keep expanding my knowledge for my own enjoyment and evolution. I am also seeing a growing trend for photographers to seek professional groups and have a connection with a fellow photographer.

I have been a member of IPPG for 15 years and cannot express how much I value my dear friends. When I broke my arm in the Fall a few years ago, friends stepped in to cover my shoots. When I have silly questions about photography, someone can explain it in a way that I can understand. When I have frustration, I have someone to vent with. And I when I have a blip in my plans, I have someone to cheer me on. We ALL need a group of friends who are there to help and encourage us through thick and thin.

I hope that you will visit our guild to see what a fun and outgoing group we are. We welcome you to mark your schedule for the first Tuesday of each month to come and see for yourself.

When I moved to Carmel, Indiana in October of 2013, I was looking for ways to get involved in my photographic community. Through that quest, I found and decided to join IPPG. I immediately started attending monthly meetings as I could and found exactly what I was hoping for. IPPG offered me real people with real experience. Many members engaged me in personal conversation starting on day 1 (thanks Ed!).

Now, I enjoy online training and tutorials as much as any other aspiring photographer, however, what I missed through online training was the conversation, the questions, the answers, and the creative collaboration. Those real people at IPPG have filled that gap for me. I found the nicest group of photographers at all levels whom shared my passion for photography with a combined experience of multiple lifetimes. When I have a question abut any aspect of my personal growth or business, I now have someone to call. Further more, when I make those calls, those members have taken their time to help me EVERY time. Their engagement and willingness to share made me want to be more engaged. Since that time, I have attended multiple meetings and volunteered to help my new peers whenever I have been able. As a result, I have extended my membership to multiple friendships, numerous conversations, various enriching outings learning about what I love…photographic art.

If you are looking for a place to grow, not just technically, but creatively and emotionally within your community, IPPG is a good place for you. We welcome you with open arms and look forward to meeting you. Please feel free to call me any time to discuss and hear my testimonial personally.

I had no idea what I was getting into when I joined IPPG. A friend and I went to the PPI Trade Show and shared a lunch table with a group of photographers who encouraged us to join IPPG. I remember feeling so intimidated going to those first several meetings. Looking back, I realize how silly that was. Every photographer that I spoke to was happy to share information and help me to become a better photographer. The knowledge and confidence that I gained from those meetings as well as one-on-one chats with other members has been invaluable. On-line tutorials and videos are great tools for learning, but they simply can’t compare to in-person presentations and conversations with other professionals.
